Colchester Youth Football Team Reach New Heights

On Sunday 26th May, members of our team, along with their parents and coaches climbed Mount Snowdon.

Based at the nearby Riverside Campsite, our intrepid explorers made the most of the beautiful weather, and headed for the start of the climb at Pen Y Pass.

The chosen route was the Pyg Track, a challenging 3 1/2 mile rocky path affording views of an ancient landscape  of glacial lakes any many distant peaks.

The ascent was made in three groups, each made up of experienced walkers/climbers and novices alike, all making sure they climbed at a sensible pace, taking frequent breaks to take on fluid, as the sun was beating down and temperatures were soaring.

We were lucky enough to attract some corporate sponsorship of the event. Banners were carried to the summit (each with a message thanking the organisation for it's support) and photographs were taken of the players holding them. In particular we would like to thank; Accounting Plus, Elan and Mersea 5 Star Boot Camps.

Llanberis Path was used as the route off the mountain, a 4 1/2 mile descent which seemed easy compared to the Pyg Track.

Running close to the mountain railway for much of the way down, the path didn't provide the same dramatic scenery as we had enjoyed on the climb up, however it was still very picturesque.
